Pastrnak becomes Bruins' new captain

The Boston Bruins have officially named David Pastrnak the 28th captain in the franchise's history. This announcement came on Sunday morning, marking a new era for the team after a 567-day gap without a captain following Brad Marchand's trade to Florida in March 2025.

At 29 years old, Pastrnak is the longest-tenured player on the Bruins, having been with the organization since he was drafted in 2014. He expressed his gratitude and humility about the captaincy, stating, 'I can't wait, and my biggest goal is to be the best version of myself for the team and the Bruins organization.' Pastrnak has served as an alternate captain since the 2021-22 season and noted the importance of building a tight-knit group among players and staff as they prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
