The Dallas Stars bounced back from a disappointing Game 1 loss to secure a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild in Game 2 of their playoff series, leveling the best-of-seven series at 1-1. Wyatt Johnston led the Stars by scoring two goals, while Matt Duchene contributed a goal and an assist.
Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 29 saves, showcasing his resilience after a shaky Game 1. The Stars opened the scoring with a unique goal from Johnston, which deflected off Wild goaltender Jesper Wallstedt.
The Wild's Brock Faber scored both of their goals, but the Stars maintained control in the match. Looking ahead, the Stars will be challenged as they prepare for Games 3 and 4 in Minnesota, with top-line center Roope Hintz remaining sidelined due to injury.
Coach Glen Gulutzan indicated that Hintz, who has not played since March 6, is unlikely to return before Game 5 at the earliest, adding pressure on the Dallas roster. The Stars' depth players shone in the Game 2 victory, and their performance will be crucial as the series progresses, particularly in Hintz's absence.
