Hellebuyck requests trade from Winnipeg Jets

Connor Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender, has publicly confirmed his trade request from the Winnipeg Jets. In a statement released by his agent, Ray Petkau, Hellebuyck stated that he made the request several months ago to allow the organization time to explore its options.

He emphasized the importance of going public as training camp approaches, expressing that he believes moving on is the best path forward for him and his family. Hellebuyck has played his entire NHL career with the Jets and was voted MVP in the 2024-25 season.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff acknowledged that he is working to trade Hellebuyck, stating, "Connor has been open with us about his desire for a change," highlighting the respect the organization has for him.

Hellebuyck's eight-year, $59.5 million extension, signed in October 2023, keeps him under contract through 2031 at a cap hit of $8.5 million, complicating potential trade negotiations.
