Blackhawks rookie defenseman Artyom Levshunov has been sidelined indefinitely due to a hand fracture. Head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed that Levshunov sustained the injury during a game against the New York Islanders and had been playing through it in the following two games, where he logged significant ice time but struggled, posting a combined minus-five rating.
With only nine games remaining in the season, it's likely his season is over, given the Blackhawks' current standing and their challenges, including recent heavy losses to the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers.
Despite his struggles, Levshunov has shown potential this season with two goals and 22 assists in 68 games, ranking second among rookie defensemen. General manager Kyle Davidson expressed optimism about Levshunov's development, highlighting the progress he has made since being drafted second overall in 2024.
In response to Levshunov's injury, the Blackhawks have called up Kevin Korchinski, who will take his place in the lineup against the New Jersey Devils.
