Artyom Levshunov has shown significant growth this season, emerging as a bright spot for the Chicago Blackhawks amid their struggles. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Levshunov, who just turned 21, has improved his game by relying more on instinct rather than overthinking plays, which had previously hindered his performance.
Coach Jeff Blashill noted that Levshunov's increased comfort in the system and on the ice has made him more effective, leading to a reduction in the 'Arty moments' that plagued his rookie season. Since Bowen Byram's injury, Levshunov has led the Hawks defensemen in five-on-five ice time, indicating Blashill's growing trust in him.
Moritz Seider, a fellow defenseman, remarked on Levshunov's potential, highlighting his underrated skill and the importance of experience in reaching peak performance. While Levshunov still has room to grow, including enhancing his physicality, his trajectory suggests he will be a significant part of the Blackhawks' defensive core for the foreseeable future.
