The Carolina Hurricanes have showcased remarkable resilience and dominance throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs, finishing with a remarkable 12-1 record. After losing Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final to the Montreal Canadiens 6-2, the Hurricanes rallied to win four consecutive games, culminating in a decisive 6-1 victory in Game 5, securing their place in the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Notable performances included goals from Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven, and Eric Robinson in the first period of Game 5, while Jackson Blake and Shayne Gostisbehere added goals in the second period. Frederik Andersen nearly recorded a shutout, allowing only one goal from Cole Caufield in the third period.

The Hurricanes swept the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers in the first two rounds and now stand as the first NHL team since 1987 to reach the Stanley Cup Final with fewer than two losses, highlighting their depth and growth as a team under head coach Rod Brind'Amour.

This marks their first appearance in the Cup Final in 20 years, a significant milestone for the franchise that has been a perennial contender in the Eastern Conference since Brind'Amour took over as coach eight years ago.

The decision of current captain Jordan Staal not to touch the Prince of Wales Trophy reflects the team's focus on the ultimate prize, as they prepare for their matchup against Vegas.
