In a thrilling Game 2 matchup, the Carolina Hurricanes narrowly defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 after an overtime filled with controversy. The game saw a critical goal overturned due to an offside review.

According to The Hockey News, the Hurricanes believed they had taken a 2-0 series lead when Mark Jankowski scored during a delayed penalty situation. However, the NHL Situation Room reviewed the play and determined that Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal was offside as he entered the attacking zone, negating the goal.

As a result of the missed infraction, Jordan Martinook was awarded a penalty shot, which he failed to convert. However, he redeemed himself by scoring the game-winning goal in double-overtime. Yahoo Sports reported that the Senators made a comeback with goals from Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens to tie the game at 2-2, overcoming a 2-0 deficit.

Linus Ullmark was a standout in net for Ottawa, making numerous saves, but Frederik Andersen of Carolina also had a remarkable performance, stopping 37 shots. The series now moves to Ottawa for Game 3, with the Hurricanes leading 2-0 in the first-round series.
