Hurricanes legends mentor young athletes

Dozens of former University of Miami greats returned to the gridiron at the Canes practice facility in Coral Gables, Florida, to mentor the next generation of athletes at the Miami Legends Camp. Former Canes linebacker D.J.

Williams emphasized the importance of giving back, stating, 'Listen, this is where I learned everything, and I always wanna give it back.' Camp attendee Aziyaah Borago expressed excitement about showcasing his skills, saying, 'It feels good, you know, trying to show out in front of these people.' Former Canes quarterback Gino Torretta reflected on the significance of the brotherhood within the program, noting, 'The brotherhood that we had here, the competition, that's what made us.' Former running back Michael Irvin shared insights with the young athletes, stating, 'What I told these kids is serious, like, we old heads, we gon talk about, and all we can do is relive our history.' Former offensive tackle Joaquin Gonzalez humorously commented on the changes in his peers, saying, 'Oh man, it is awesome to see running backs walk in as offensive linemen now.' The event highlighted the strong bonds among the legends and the new connections being forged with young players aspiring to follow in their footsteps.
