The Carolina Hurricanes advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in two decades, securing their spot with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Hurricanes swept their first two playoff series and rebounded strongly after losing Game 1 to the Canadiens, winning four consecutive games to clinch the series 4-1. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour, who has been with the team for 15 seasons, expressed his joy for the core players who have persevered through prior playoff disappointments.
The Hurricanes are set to face the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 2. The Hurricanes opened as -155 favorites to win the Stanley Cup, following their impressive playoff run, which has seen them as both the top defensive team and one of the highest-scoring teams in the postseason.
This victory also marks a significant turnaround for the franchise, which had previously struggled in the playoffs, and players like Taylor Hall and Logan Stankoven played crucial roles in their success.
The Stanley Cup Final schedule includes Game 1 on June 2 in Raleigh, with subsequent games following shortly after, as the Hurricanes aim to capture their second championship title, their first since 2006.
