The Carolina Hurricanes showcased their dominance in the Eastern Conference Final by defeating the Montreal Canadiens 6-1 in Game 5, thus securing their spot in the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

This victory marked the Hurricanes' first trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 20 years, following a strong playoff performance where they compiled a record of 12 wins and just one loss throughout the postseason.

After losing the first game against Montreal 6-2, the Hurricanes rallied to win four consecutive games, demonstrating their relentless aggression and strong defensive play. In Game 5, Taylor Hall opened the scoring, followed by goals from Logan Stankoven, Eric Robinson, Jackson Blake, and Shayne Gostisbehere, while Seth Jarvis added an empty-netter.

Notably, Carolina's captain Jordan Staal chose not to touch the Prince of Wales Trophy, following a tradition rooted in superstition, similar to the decision made by the Vegas Golden Knights, who also refrained from touching their conference trophy after sweeping the Colorado Avalanche.

The matchup against the Golden Knights promises to be thrilling, as both teams are riding high after impressive playoff runs, with Carolina looking to win their second championship since 2006. Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final is set to take place just three days after their Eastern Conference victory.
