In a standout performance, Matt Coronato led the Calgary Flames to a decisive 6-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken, marking a significant highlight in the early NHL season. Coronato achieved a career-high four points with one goal and three assists, while Joel Farabee contributed with a goal and two assists, helping the Flames secure their fifth consecutive home win.
Other contributors included Morgan Frost and Matvei Gridin, who each tallied a goal and an assist, alongside Aydar Suniev and Ryan Strome, who also scored. Flames goalie Dustin Wolf made his first start since October 15, stopping 20 shots to improve to a 2-4-0 record.
The Flames capitalized on their power play, finishing 2-for-2 in the game, showcasing their effectiveness with a recent power play success rate of 45%. This performance comes after a setback against the Edmonton Oilers, where the Flames lost 4-0, breaking their previous four-game winning streak.
Mikael Backlund's assist on Farabee's goal brought him to 610 career points, moving him into fifth place on Calgary's all-time scoring list, just six points shy of Joe Nieuwendyk. The Flames will face the Kraken again on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena, as they look to build on their early season momentum.
