The Calgary Flames have officially announced their final schedule for the 2026-27 NHL season, marking a significant farewell to the Scotiabank Saddledome, their home since 1983-84. According to Yahoo Sports NHL, the Flames will open their season on October 1, 2026, against the Seattle Kraken at 7:00 PM MT.
Interestingly, the Kraken will also be the last team to visit the Saddledome on October 30. The highly anticipated last regular-season home game will take place on April 10, 2027, against the Vancouver Canucks, as reported by Flames Nation.
Fans will also have the chance to see the Edmonton Oilers in the Dome for the final time on March 3 and March 23, while the Toronto Maple Leafs will visit on October 26. The Flames will also host several Original Six teams, including the Detroit Red Wings on October 24 and the Montreal Canadiens on January 28.
This season is historic not only because of the farewell to the Saddledome but also due to the NHL's return to an 84-game schedule, the first since 1993-94, as noted by Flame for Thought. The Flames will have multiple homestands throughout the season, with the longest stretching from January 5 to January 16, featuring several Eastern Conference teams.
Overall, the 2026-27 season promises to be a memorable one for Flames fans who will be saying goodbye to an iconic arena while also witnessing key matchups against rivals.
