The Boston Bruins made a pivotal move by trading goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the New York Rangers, which allowed them to clear $3 million in cap space. In exchange, the Bruins received a 2028 fourth-round draft pick and prospect Kalle Vaisanen.
Korpisalo's time with the Bruins included 58 games with a record of 25-19-9, but he struggled to replicate his earlier success, only appearing in one playoff game. Meanwhile, the Bruins are reportedly interested in acquiring Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright, who is seeking a trade after a challenging season.
Wright finished last season with 12 goals and 27 points over 74 games, and he could potentially address the Bruins' depth issues at center. Additionally, the Bruins are analyzing their offseason moves after finishing the 2025-26 season with 100 points, which included acquiring JJ Peterka to bring more speed and skill to the team.
They have also focused on strengthening their blue line, which currently has ten NHL-capable defensemen, as they navigate potential trades and free-agent acquisitions to enhance their roster.
