The Anaheim Ducks made significant changes to their roster during the 2026 NHL Draft, trading center Mason McTavish to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for two first-round picks, specifically the No. 15 and No. 29 overall selections.
McTavish, who had 17 goals and 24 assists in 75 games during the 2025-26 season, was a third overall pick by the Ducks in the 2021 draft and has totaled 181 points in 304 career games. With the No. 15 pick, the Ducks selected forward Nikita Klepov, who had an impressive season in the Ontario Hockey League.
Additionally, the Ducks traded defenseman Olen Zellweger to the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round pick and prospect Anton Wahlberg, who had 37 points in the AHL this past season. Zellweger, a 22-year-old defenseman, has compiled 51 points in 164 games with the Ducks since being drafted in 2021.
These trades reflect a strategic shift for the Ducks, focusing on rebuilding and acquiring young talent for their future, as evidenced by their selection of Swedish winger Marcus Nordmark with the 28th overall pick, who had a standout season in the Swedish junior league.
