The Anaheim Ducks are one win away from clinching their first playoff series victory in nine years, leading the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Ducks won three consecutive games after dropping the series opener, including a critical 4-3 overtime victory in Game 4, which prompted NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to back the ruling that upheld their controversial overtime goal.
However, the Oilers rallied in Game 5, scoring three quick goals to chase Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal, putting the series at 3-2. Connor McDavid, who had been dealing with an ankle injury, played in Game 5, while the Oilers made a goaltending change, starting Connor Ingram in hopes of staving off elimination.
As the series intensifies, both teams are aware of the stakes, with the Ducks looking to secure a historic series win and the Oilers aiming to force a Game 6.
