The Anaheim Ducks faced the Philadelphia Flyers in a matchup that highlighted the Ducks' ongoing struggles this season. The Ducks are currently in a five-game losing streak, having not earned a point during this stretch, while they have scored only nine goals and allowed 20.

According to Deadspin, the Ducks' recent performance issues were evident in their prior loss to the New Jersey Devils, where they managed only 17 shots on goal and were limited to a single goal from Tim Washe.

Coach Joel Quenneville acknowledged the team's lack of execution, stating, 'We haven't been very good on this trip... we got to be better than we are.' Meanwhile, the Flyers, after a rough start with an 0-6-3 record, have recently found success, winning three consecutive games, including their previous victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

The Flyers' coach Rick Tocchet mentioned, 'We've played to our identity a little bit more.' The Ducks' star Leo Carlsson, who was the subject of an offer sheet from Philadelphia in the offseason, has struggled this season, scoring only two goals in ten games.

The Ducks, now 3 points behind the Colorado Avalanche for the first wild card spot in the Western Conference, have significant challenges ahead as they continue their road trip without key defenseman Pavel Mintyukov, who has been placed on IR.

The Ducks' special teams have also been underwhelming, with a power play conversion rate of only 6.3%. With the Flyers gaining momentum and the Ducks in a slump, this matchup served as a crucial moment for both teams in the early season standings.
