Ryan Nugent-Hopkins celebrated a major milestone in his career by playing his 1,000th game for the Edmonton Oilers during a 5-0 shutout victory against the St. Louis Blues. This achievement marks him as the first player in Oilers history to accomplish all 1,000 games with the franchise.
Prior to the game, a pre-game ceremony honored Nugent-Hopkins, where his teammates followed his warm-up routine. He contributed to the game by scoring the opening goal, which was also the eventual game-winning goal.
As of this milestone, Nugent-Hopkins has accumulated 282 goals and 505 assists for a total of 787 points over his 15-year NHL career. Currently, he is just 37 games shy of passing Hockey Hall of Famer Kevin Lowe for the most games played in Oilers history.
Nugent-Hopkins had previously recorded career highs last season with 37 goals and 67 assists for 104 points. In total, he has played 96 playoff games, contributing 23 goals and 58 assists. The Oilers' victory against the Blues follows a strong performance the night before, where they defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-0, marking a successful back-to-back for the team.
