In his debut with the Ottawa Senators, James Reimer stopped 30 shots despite the team falling to the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in overtime. The Senators had initially taken a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens.

However, Detroit rallied back with goals from Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Lucas Raymond, and James van Riemsdyk, before Shane Pinto tied the game late in the second period. In overtime, Alex DeBrincat scored just 36 seconds in to seal the victory for Detroit.

Ottawa was outshot 34-22, continuing their struggles with goaltending, particularly with long-range shots, as they rank among the league's leaders in goals allowed from distance. Reimer's performance was notable as it marked his first NHL regular-season start in nine months, making him the third oldest goalie to play this season at 37 years old.

The Senators next face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, according to The Hockey News Ottawa.
